Electrode potential and selective ionic adsorption
Article history: Received 11 March 2009 Accepted 16 March 2009 Available online 20 March 2009 Communicated by V.M. Agranovich A simple description of the electrode potential based on the selective ionic adsorption is proposed. It is shown that if the adsorption–desorption coefficients entering in the Langmuir kinetic equation for the adsorption at the limiting surfaces are not identical, a diff...
متن کاملThe wall-jet electrode Potential step chronoamperometry
A theory is presented which describes the transient current response to a potential step at a wall-jet electrode, thus defining the “response time” of the electrode. Results are given in the form of a normalized transient as a function of a dimensionless time parameter which permits the analysis of experimental data for electrodes of any geometry and for any solution flow rate.
متن کاملStandard electrode potential, Tafel equation, and the solvation thermodynamics.
Equilibrium in the electronic subsystem across the solution-metal interface is considered to connect the standard electrode potential to the statistics of localized electronic states in solution. We argue that a correct derivation of the Nernst equation for the electrode potential requires a careful separation of the relevant time scales. An equation for the standard metal potential is derived ...
متن کاملCellular basis for the monophasic action potential . Which electrode is the recording electrode ? Masahiko Kondo
Background: The cellular basis for the monophasic action potential (MAP) has long been a matter of debate. At the center of the controversy is the issue as to which of the two electrodes is the recording electrode and which is the indifferent electrode. The present study is designed to address this issue. Methods: Transmembrane action potentials (TAPs) and either intramural MAPs or contact (Fra...
